How Fast Is Voyager 1 Traveling?

Voyager 1 is one of NASA’s most iconic space probes, launched on September 5, 1977, with the primary mission of studying the outer planets of our solar system.   • Voyager 1 was launched from Earth with a speed exceeding Earth’s escape velocity, which is about 25,020 miles per hour (40,270 kilometers per hour). This initial velocity was necessary for the spacecraft to overcome Earth’s gravitational pull and begin its journey into space.
