How to Find Your Known Traveler Number (KTN)

A Known Traveler Number (KTN) is a unique identification number issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to travelers who are part of trusted traveler programs like TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI. If you’ve enrolled in one of these programs but need to retrieve or find your KTN, follow these steps:

1. Check Your Approval Notification:

  • When you were approved for a trusted traveler program, you likely received an approval notification via email, mail, or through the program’s online portal. This notification may include your KTN. Be sure to check your email inbox and spam folder if you can’t find the notification.

2. Contact the Program Provider:

  • If you can’t locate your KTN in your approval notification, contact the program provider for assistance. Here’s how to reach them:
    • TSA PreCheck: Visit the TSA PreCheck website (https://www.tsa.gov/precheck) and click on “Contact Us” for guidance on how to retrieve your KTN.
    • Global Entry: Log in to your Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) account on the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website (https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov) and select “Retrieve Membership Number.”
    • NEXUS: Contact the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) by calling the NEXUS Information Line at 1-866-639-8726 for assistance.
    • SENTRI: Contact the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) SENTRI Program at 1-877-227-5511 for help in retrieving your KTN.

3. Visit Enrollment Centers (Global Entry and NEXUS):

  • For Global Entry and NEXUS participants who can’t find their KTN through the methods mentioned above, you can visit an enrollment center for assistance. Global Entry participants can schedule an appointment through the TTP website, while NEXUS participants can visit a CBSA Enrollment Center.

4. Look on Trusted Traveler Program Cards:

  • If you received a physical card for your trusted traveler program (Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI), your KTN may be printed on it. Check both sides of the card for the number.

5. Log Into Your Trusted Traveler Program Account:

  • Access your Trusted Traveler Program account on the respective program’s website (TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI). After logging in, you may be able to retrieve your KTN from your account dashboard or profile settings.

6. Contact Customer Support:

  • If all else fails, you can contact the customer support or helpline for the trusted traveler program you are enrolled in. They can provide guidance and assistance in retrieving your KTN.

7. Visit an Enrollment Center (TSA PreCheck):

  • If you enrolled in TSA PreCheck, you can visit a TSA Enrollment Center for assistance in finding your KTN. Schedule an appointment through the TSA PreCheck website and bring your valid ID and proof of citizenship.

Once you have successfully retrieved your Known Traveler Number, keep it secure and use it when booking flights or updating your reservations. Having a KTN allows you to enjoy expedited security screening at participating airports, making your travel experience faster and more convenient.
